Serban Epure has been a pioneer in digital art since 1970. At that time, while being proficient in traditional, techniques (oil, gouache, ink, etc), he involved himself in the information theory, constructivism, cybernetics, and invented art, as opposed to representational. He had the intuitive inspiration to consider geometry as a thinking entity, capable of discrimination. This dialogue created through the use of cybernetic principles simulates life situations, and when rendered graphically, grows into a final artwork. The computer is Epure’s tool of choice for such work since its capabilities match the complexity of the project. Since 1987 Epure has worked exclusively on the Macintosh and related peripherals.

Manfred Mohr started as an action painter and jazz musician, turning to the computer in 1968 to create and develop his algorithmic art. This exploration gradually gave way to a consistent series of work leading up to the present day and involving fractured projections of n-dimensional hypercubes. Mohr’s work has been exhibited widely and is found in many public and private collections. He has received awards from the Biennial in Ljubljana (1973), the Camille Graesser-Preis in Zurich, Switzerland (1990). He won the Golden Nica from Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria (1990) and a Fellowship from the New York Foundation of the Arts (1997).

Barbara Nessim is a pioneer in the arts. She made the computer an integral part of her artistic process when most were still using traditional tools. Since 1960, she has been compiling sketchbooks that are the nascent imagery for her digital work. Whether it is a woman nestling an imaginary ovum, taking a shower, or crouching among abstract shapes, Barbara Nessim retains the classical drawn line, yet manages to capture the intersection of psychological and worldly predicaments that mirror our own.

Her paintings and drawings are part of numerous public and private collections and have been shown in museums and galleries worldwide. Her work has appeared and been written about in publications, such as Communication Arts, Leonardo, Forbes, Fast Company, New York Magazine and Newsweek, and on the covers of Time, Rolling Stone and The New York Times Magazine.
