Birdcage is a complex, exuberant, and joyful fabric of juxtapositions composed of Cage’s voice, birds in aviaries, and random sounds to be played back in a space in which, as Cage put it, people were free to move and birds to fly. Cage’s music represents an anarchistic world in which everything is what it is and simply combines in a cheerful, symbiotic whole. |
